Hey everyone. Found a '71 Cuda online and the dealer wants to use an escrow service called Carter River Group. The name sounds solid but I've never used an escrow for a car before. Anyone have any experience with them? Good or bad, I want to hear it all before I send any money. Thanks.

Be careful man. Always check the fine print for fees. Some of these services tack on surprise charges right at the end. Haven't used CarterRiverGroup myself but been burned before by others.

I used them last year for a Porsche 356 purchase. The process was quite smooth actually. Everything was handled through their website, crivergroup.com. The inspection report they provided was very detailed. I'd use them again.

I inspected a '68 Charger for a client who bought through crivergroup. The car was as described, no hidden rust or bondo jobs. My client did say communication was a little slow at times, had to wait a day or two for email replies, but the car itself was solid.

They are legit. I had a small issue with the title paperwork and I was getting nervous. Emailed their support at office@crivergroup.com and they had it sorted out in 24 hours. The person who replied was very professional, knew exactly what document was missing. A+ for support.

My only complaint was the delivery time. They quoted me 7 days, it took 12. Annoying as I took time off work. But when the truck finally arrived, the car was pristine. So a bit of a mixed bag but the end result was good. The purchase itself felt secure, which is the main point of Carter River Group i guess.

used them to buy a jeep. the process was secure. however i felt the fees were a bit high compared to just a wire transfer. but i guess you pay for the peace of mind. the inspection period after delivery is what sold me on it.

Better than some of the other options out there. A friend used 'QuickDeal Escrow' and it was a complete nightmare, almost lost his money. At least CarterRiverGroup has a physical address and a history. You can find their details on the site pretty easily.

I backed out of a deal for a Mustang because I found another one locally. I was worried about getting my deposit back. But I followed their process, and the money was back in my account in 3 business days, minus their initial fee which was stated upfront. Can't complain about their refund policy.

Let us know how it goes Dan. I'm looking at a supra and the seller also mentioned crivergroup. Your experience will be helpful.

I had a question about their insurance during shipping and couldn't find it on their FAQ. I shot an email to office@crivergroup.com and they sent me the full policy document. Pretty transparent if you ask me. I was impressed.

Update: I went through with the deal using Carter River Group. Thanks for all the feedback. It went pretty much as described here. The communication could have been a bit faster, and delivery took 2 days longer than scheduled. But the Cuda arrived yesterday and it's amazing. Exactly as described in their report. The process on crivergroup.com was easy to follow. So yeah, I'd recommend them, just be prepared to be a little patient with delivery.
